Marksworx MiniFoundry & Furnace

OK...so I'm not too good at cutting out lettering and fancy patterns using the hot wire foam cutter so I started to look around at what I could build to help out. Reading about Computer Numeric Control (CNC) I did a search and found the CNC Zone and after looking about for a while I read about some guys who built foam cutting CNC machines using scrap and pieces of old printers. Thats more in my realm. It didn't take too long to locate a bunch of old printers....folks are throwing them away all the time....probably because its cheaper to get a new printer sometimes then it is to buy those darn expensive ink supplies.

Here are the three printers I pulled to disassemble and scavenge for useable parts.

Starting to disassemble the printers.................

starting the parts removal and disassembly.jpg As I took the printers apart I kept everything...all the little screws, all the rubber rollers, the steel rods, power supplies, and assorted bits.....so to become something new and useful.......

This is a project still under construction.......so come back and check it out as we keep working on the CNC Foam Cutter project!!
